Using the powerful model systemDrosophila melanogaster(fruit fly), DrosAfrica is helping to create an interconnected community of biomedical scientists. DrosAfrica is now aiming at creating African institutes that will allow researchers to run impactful biomedical projects. For this, long term sustainable funding is urgently needed. How DrosAfrica is contributing to shaping research and promoting equality in science on the African continent using fruit flies.
